A ‘coffee shot’ style webinar that will bring you up to date on the current key issues and what is happening in the world of restructurings and corporate rescues from a neutral, informative perspective. Our experts will cover recent high-profile restructurings in the leisure sector which have immolated some of our biggest operators. They will talk us through CVAs, Pre-packs, s.26as in terms of how they work, and the pros and cons of each.

Isabelle is an ACA Qualified Accountant, working in advisory and audit, with a focus on the hospitality sector at haysmacintyre.

She currently sits on The Leisure Property Forum Committee and will facilitate today’s discussion.

Vernon Dennis – Head of Business Recovery and Reconstruction at Howard Kennedy LLP

Vernon is Head of the Business Recovery and Reconstruction Group at Howard Kennedy. With over 30 years in practice he is a fellow of R3 The Association of Business Recovery Professionals and an accredited member of the Institute for Turnaround.

He is regular commentator and lecturer on restructuring issues. Co-author of The New Law of Insolvency (2003) and sole author of 3 works in the Insolvency Law Series (Administration (2010) Liquidation (2011) and Bankruptcy (2012)) and author of all 4 editions of Law Society’s Insolvency Law Handbook (2005, 2007, 2013 and 2021)

He specialises in strategic and advisory support for company boards considering programmes of business turnaround, restructuring or transformation. Providing advice on directors’ duties and obligations and the planning and implementing of financial recovery and restructuring plans. He has a focus on retail, hospitality, and leisure restructuring, acting for the principals, creditors including landlords and other stakeholders.

Grace Whatman –  Senior Vice President, Turnaround and Restructuring Services at Alix Partners

Ian Partridge  – Partner at AlixPartners

Ian provides critical advice in stressed and distressed situations for a range of clients and stakeholders. He has over 18 years of experience in advising companies, lenders, and investors in a number of different engagements, including implementing complex, cross-border financial restructurings, producing independent business reviews, creating contingency plans, performing options analyses, and undertaking formal insolvency assignments.

Ian has led the contingency planning for and is the prospective Joint Administrator of Cineworld Group PLC – the second largest cinema business in the world. He was the lead financial advisor in respect of Cineworld’s Part 26A Restructuring Plans, including preparation of the relevant alternative expert report.
