About this event

Webinar: Martyn’s Law – how is it affecting the leisure sector?

This online webinar delivers 60 minutes of CPD and is FREE TO MEMBERS. Available to watch on video.

A ‘coffee shot’ style webinar that will bring you up to date on the urgent implementation of Martyn’s Law, now legally mandated following Royal Assent in April 2025.

Martyn’s Law was designed in direct response to the horrific events of the Manchester Arena bomb attack in 2017. It is intended to improve security at public premises and will require venues and events to take steps to prepare for and respond to potential terrorist attacks. The legislation is expected to become law at the expiry of a two-year implementation period.

It will have a particular impact on the leisure sector and in a time of numerous challenges for landlords, investors and operators within the sector, the webinar will explore how the sector will respond to the upcoming legal requirements. It will offer insight on some of the practical steps that venues expect to see introduced over the coming years.

The panel discussion will feature perspectives from leading leisure landlords, operators and Martyn’s Law policy-makers, and will be moderated by Lisa Sharkey of Poppleston Allen.

The Leisure Property Forum has assembled a panel of experienced industry experts in this field.

Our panellists:

Lisa has specialised in alcohol licensing for 29 years and has been with Poppleston Allen since its inception; becoming Managing Partner in April 2018.

There isn’t much in the way of licensing that Lisa hasn’t experienced. This is reflected in Lisa’s Band 1 ranking in Chambers & Partners legal guide and her Leading Individual status in the Legal 500.
