About this event

This seminar will be our LPF Northern event for 2024 – looking at key trends in leisure real estate across the UK, and how the region’s leisure is faring. The event will cover existing uses and trading, new developments and future formats and growth areas.

The event will be hosted by our generous sponsors, TLT LLP, in their offices in Manchester.

The format will be a keynote presentation from a key industry analyst, followed by a Q&A/discussion, moderated by our Chair, Julie Garsden of Savills.

Julie Garsden –  – Head of Leisure Property Management at Savills Manchester

As Head of Leisure Property Management for Savills, Julie manages a team with clients that include Legal & General, Landsec, The Crown Estate and Otium Real Estate. Savills have over 10 million square feet of Leisure schemes and Parks under their management across the UK, with an annual rent roll of almost £200 million, and a service charge of £40 million.

Julie’s long career in the Property Market includes Leisure specific experience amounting to more than 25 years. Previously an Asset Manager for over 20 years, she has come to know, so very well, many individuals that make up this truly exciting and ever changing sector.

Ellie Marfleet MSc – Retail Research Analyst, Savills

Ellie works within the Commercial Research team at Savills in Manchester with a specialism in retail analysis and consultancy. Her role includes utilising data to tell stories about current market trends within the retail and leisure sector and the wider property market in the UK, in addition to supporting clients through store location research, retail redevelopment projects, and strategic advice. This includes the exploration of themes such as evolving consumer needs, what the future of retail and leisure looks like, and how our towns and cities can facilitate this.

Nick Ferris, Director – Barker Proudlove

Barker Proudlove advises owners, occupiers, investors and developers of in-town and out-of-town retail and leisure property. With offices in Leeds and Manchester, they specialise in retail and leisure agency, providing leasing, acquisition, disposal and strategic asset management advice to clients on their shopping centre, high street and retail park/ leisure park property holdings.

Nick represents a range of institutional landlords, developers, property companies and Local Authorities, providing retail and leisure agency, asset management and development advice within the retail and leisure sectors. Nick also acts for a range of clients advising on their acquisition strategy.

Dan Davies, Co- Founder &  Director at Metis Real Estate Advisors

Dan has over 20 years’ experience in the retail and leisure sectors having previously worked at Drivers Jonas (now Deloitte), JLL and Tushingham Moore.

Dan works on development schemes from inception right through to ongoing strategic asset management. Major schemes include Trafford Centre; Liverpool One; Corn Exchange, Manchester; Heart of the City II, Sheffield; Times Square, Warrington; Printworks, Manchester; Leopold Square, Sheffield; St Michael’s, Manchester and Blackpool Central. He also acts on behalf of a wide range of national and regional restaurant operators including Burger King, who we are retained by across the North West and West Midlands.

David Bell – Co-Founder at Starka

David was Head of Global Leisure at Savills. leaving after 16 years to set up Starka Property in 2022 with co-founder, Sammy Jones. Specialising in the food and beverage (F&B), lifestyle, leisure and fitness sectors, Stärka works with forward-thinking developers, investors and operators to shape places and grow brands, all while placing an emphasis on curation. David specialises in leasing, development consultancy and asset management for major UK and Global Landlords, as well as global expansion remits for retained tenant rep clients. His extensive knowledge spans from comprehensive regeneration schemes, to new developments both in the UK and Worldwide.
