2022 saw a year of two halves – with the first 6 months seeing a strong recovery, and then fresh economic challenges hitting the industry in the later half.

With new areas of challenge such as rising inflation, spiking energy costs and increased economic and political uncertainty, what can we look forward to in 2023?

The Leisure Property Forum Annual Review is one of our flagship events and a must-attend event, providing attendees the opportunity to hear from our panel – major industry experts who will cover the economy, F&B market, non-food/Big Box Leisure sector and the investment market.

This year we are hosted by our generous sponsors, Fieldfisher

Our experts will review the big events of 2022 and look forward to how 2023 will shape up, tackling the economy, politics, the UK consumer and each key sector in our industry.

We will have presentations from the following:

Simon French, Managing Director and Chief Economist at Panmure Gordon

Simon is Chief Economist at British Investment Bank, Panmure Gordon. He leads the bank’s research in Economics and Equity Strategy and has previously held a series of high-profile roles within the U.K. Civil Service – initially at the Department for Work and Pensions and subsequently at the Cabinet Office. His background is in Applied Microeconomics and he is a full member of the Government Economic Service specialising in microeconomic analysis and its application within public policy development.

He is a frequent guest on BBC, Sky and Bloomberg business and economics programs, as well as a regular contributor to the Times newspaper. After Simon’s well-received summary and review of the economic outlook last year, we are delighted that he joins us again this year.

Carlene Hughes – Head of UK Leisure – Retail Division, Savills

Carlene is a director in the leisure agency team, specialising in leasing, development consultancy and asset management of leisure assets for major UK institutional landlords as well as nationwide expansion remits for retained tenant rep clients.

She is a market leading advisor and covers all aspects of the leisure sub-sector, including cinemas, restaurants, health & fitness, family entertainment centres and visitor attractions across the UK and London.

Carlene heads up the National Leisure function at Savills, advising on a range of property assets from solus restaurant and D2 units to shopping centres, dedicated leisure schemes and mixed use development sites.

Flora Young – Head of F&B, Central London Retail, Colliers

Flora leads Restaurant and Leisure Agency for the London Retail Team at Colliers, specialising in advising London Landlords on long-term strategy through to curation and implementation of optimum tenant mix. She brings an in-depth knowledge of the hospitality and leisure market from her initial experience curating food halls across London with the newest chefs and street food concepts, through to her strategic advice and implementation within London’s best estates and developments.

Currently, Flora works alongside the retail team advising Howard De Walden on Marylebone Village, Argent on Kings Cross, Church Commissioners on Connaught Village and RLAM on their Mayfair holdings.
