The Leisure Property Forum and REVO are pleased to present this event – Repurposing Large Retail Spaces
The seminar will begin with an initial overview from Brian Tracey of Leslie Jones Architecture with examples of repurposed large retail spaces from around the world. Brian’s extensive experience spans new build, masterplanning and complex refurbishment projects throughout the UK and Europe and his portfolio includes the transformation of two BCSC Gold-winning projects, Southside Shopping Centre in Wandsworth and Old Market Shopping Centre in Hereford. He has also worked on large city centre regeneration projects including The Moor in Sheffield and Friars Walk in Newport along with County Square, Ashford and the redevelopment of Houndshill Shopping Centre in Blackpool. He is currently leading the design teams on a number of large mixed use redevelopments of existing shopping destinations to reimagine the retail offer, whilst introducing complementary leisure and residential uses.
Rob Howarth, Director of Leisure at Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL) will then deliver a market view with key stats and facts on what is happening in the UK to large retail spaces, department stores and large format retail, and asking the question – “What’s the opportunity? Is leisure is a solution?”
Our expert panel will demonstrate what can be done with large retail spaces showing examples of how they have repurposed such space in their own organisations.

He has over 25 years’ experience in the development and delivery of retail, leisure, and mixed-use developments across the UK. Stuart is MRICS qualified and a current member of the Revo Local Authority Advisory Committee. operational performance of the retail portfolio throughout the UK. Emma’s responsibilities include oversight of NewRiver’s property management, rent
collection and the Company’s Environmental, Social and Governance programme and she is a qualified chartered surveyor with over 20 years’ experience in the retail property market.
In 2018 Emma was one of the eight members of the High Streets Expert Panel commissioned by the High Streets Minister Jake Berry MP and chaired by Sir John

outcomes were: the instigation of the High Street Fund; a Town Centre Task Force; and a number of short-term measures including rates relief. Emma also sits on the Commercial Committee of the British Property Federation.
To complete the session we will have a panel discussion orchestrated by our Chair, Andrew Russell of Land Securities. Andrew is a Portfolio Director at Landsec in their Shopping Centre Team and was formerly Head of Asset Management at the specialist fund manager, X-Leisure.
