This seminar offered key insight into the current rapid evolution of the restaurant sector. With the democratisation of fine dining, the growth of bib gourmand awards and challenges in the casual dining sector; what does the future of the restaurant sector look like?
Our speaker reviewed the macro-economic trends, latest growth brands, the prospects for growth and the challenges going forward.
Our panelists were Yasha Estraikh, Associate Partner from Piper Capital, a market-leading private equity investor who have supported brands such as Flat Iron, Turtle Bay, Hickorys Smokehouse, Las Iguanas, Pitcher and Piano and Be At One. They focus on brands at an entrepreneurial stage of their development.
Mark Selby, co-founder of Wahaca & DF/Mexico, has worked alongside two of the Investors (Robby Enthoven and Charles Luyckx) at Capricorn, assisting in financial, operational and strategic roles for Nandos, PizzaExpress, ASK and Baker & Spice. Previously, he worked directly with Stelios Haji-Ioannou (founder of easyJet) as the Business Development Director for various “easy” Businesses and, prior to that, worked in corporate finance at Merrill Lynch.
We were also pleased to welcome Alice Keown of British Land and Didier Souillat of Time Out Market who gave excellent insight in to their own businesses and plans to maximise the opportunities the sector now offers.
